Statement of Faith

A revival of old time, Holy Spirit filled worship and a fervent desire to communicate the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world are the driving forces behind the ministry of Broadway Baptist Church.

The Holy Scriptures

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures, the sixty-six books from Genesis through Revelation, to be the inspired Word of God, written by holy men of God who were controlled by the Holy Spirit as to the very words used; totally without error, that shall eternally remain.
  • The Scriptures are the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man and the final authority for all faith and practice.
  • God has perfectly preserved the Scriptures in the King James Version for the English speaking people.
  • Supporting Scripture – Psalm 12:6-7, 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:10; 2 Peter 1:20-21

The Holy Spirit

  • We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and God the Son of the same holy, divine nature
  • He was active in creation
  • He convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement
  • He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in our preaching and testimony
  • He is the agent of new birth (regeneration)
  • He seals, fills, leads, intercedes, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and comforts the believer.
  • Supporting Scripture – 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 1:12-13, 33; 3:5-8; 14: 16-17, 26; 16:8-11; Hebrews 9:14; Luke 1:35; Genesis 1:1-3; Acts 5:30-32; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:14-16; 26-27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-13; 6:11; 12:13

The True God

  • We believe there is one and only one living and true God
  • God is an infinite, intelligent Spirit; the Creator and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressively glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love
  • In the unity of the God-head there are three person- the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (Spirit)- equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct, but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
  • Supporting Scripture- Isaiah 44:6, 57:15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11; I John 5:7

Jesus Christ

  • We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was begotten by the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin and that He is 100% man and 100% God.
  • He was subject to temptation, yet without sin.
  • He is the Messiah for Israel, the Saviour of the world and the only way man can come to God the Father for forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.
  • Supporting Scripture – Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7; Luke 1:31-35; Matthew 4:1-11; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22; John 4:42; 14:6; 20:28

Satan

  • We believe in the literal existence of Satan, who originally was created a perfect being (Lucifer), but through pride and unlawful ambition rebelled against God, thus becoming utterly depraved in character; the great adversary of God and His people; the leader of the fallen angels and spirits; the deceiver and god of this world.
  • We believe his powers are supernaturally great, but strictly limited by the permissive will of God Who overrules all his wicked devices for good
  • He was defeated and judged at the cross, and, therefore, his final doom is certain.
  • We are able to resist and overcome him only in the armor of God and by the blood of Lamb of God.
  • Supporting Scripture – Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:13-17; John 8:44; Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 12:19; Matthew 12: 22-28; 25:41; Revelation 2:9; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Job; Luke 22:31-32; John 12:31-32; 16:11; Revelation 20:10; Ephesians 6:11-18; Revelation 12:11

Rapture

  • We believe the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is coming again in the air at any moment to “rapture” up those that have received Him as their Personal Saviour and to reward their service.
  • The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ shall return visibly to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.
  • Supporting Scripture – Matthew 24:29-42; I Corinthians 15:51-57, I Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelation 19:11 – 20:15.
